Job Description
Bismarck Public Schools is seeking a passionate and experienced Dance Coach to join our team and inspire dancers of all levels to achieve their full potential.
As a Dance Coach, you will be responsible for developing dancers' technical skills, choreographing routines, and fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of various dance styles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate and encourage dancers to excel.
Responsibilities: - Develop comprehensive dance training programs tailored to the needs and skill levels of individual dancers and groups.
- Instruct dancers in various dance styles.
- Teach proper dance techniques, body alignment, and alignment to prevent injuries and promote safe practices.
- Choreograph original dance routines for performances, competitions, and showcases, ensuring they align with the dancers' abilities and showcase their strengths.
- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to dancers to help them improve their skills and confidence.
- Organize and lead rehearsals, ensuring that dancers are prepared for performances and competitions.
- Collaborate with other coaches, instructors, and staff members to coordinate schedules, events, and performances.
- Stay current with trends and developments in the dance industry, attending workshops, conferences, and training sessions as needed.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where dancers feel supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.
- Communicate effectively with dancers, parents, and staff members, providing updates on progress, schedules, and events.
Qualifications: - Proven experience as a dance instructor, choreographer, or coach, with a strong background in various dance styles.
- Excellent dance technique and proficiency in teaching a range of skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
- Creative choreography skills with the ability to develop original routines that highlight dancers' strengths.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and encourage dancers.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with dancers of all ages and skill levels.
- Knowledge of dance theory, anatomy, and injury prevention techniques.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate rehearsals, performances, and events.
Please note - Coaches who hold a ND teaching license - wages are reportable to the North Dakota Teacher's Fund for Retirement (TFFR). The employee (coach) will contribute 11.75% of their salary and the District will contribute 12.75%
